During your discovery of St. Lucia, everything will surprise you; however the most exciting place to see in St. Lucia is the city of Castries.  It is the island’s capital and the largest city in St. Lucia.  Castries’s location makes it the ideal and most magnificent cites in the entire Caribbean.  Castries is encircled by hills and its large busy port.  Don’t forget to include the beautiful the 19th century Catholic Cathedral located in the Derek Walcott Square on your itinerary.

If you want panoramic and incredible pictures of Castries, then the best place is to take a tour of Morne Fortune.  There you will see the historical fortification of Castries and on arrival at the summit; the whole city will be in full view.  This is one of the must see site that should be included on your list.

The majestic town of Soufriere is the second and largest port with the most ideal location.  A tour of this gorgeous town will give you the golden opportunity to see at firsthand, the breathtaking twin peaks called the Pitons and the World’s only drive-in volcano.
A trip to Cul de Sac will take you to the banana plantation where you can view the three largest banana plantations.

The latest and thriving community in St. Lucia is the town of Gros-Islet which is an amazing location where horse riding can be done.  There you have the opportunity to attend a weekly street party and enjoy great moments which may not be available elsewhere. The Pigeon Island is located nearby which houses the Pigeon Island National Landmark Museum, which makes excellent viewing.

St Lucia is an excellent tourist destination and there are lots of things to do and see.  There are new things to do every day and I can assure that when you do visit, you are sure to return  and not once but over and over.

The Nightlife in St. Lucia

The Caribbean island of St. Lucia has the best nightlife and evening activities and craters for everyone, whether it is a romantic spot to have a late romantic dinner or to spend an incredible night in a European style discotheque.

The most important nightlife activity in St. Lucia is the Gros Islet Festival which is street party that is held every Friday night s and commences about 9:00pm near the Rodney Bay.  Local/Caribbean music, dancing, souvenirs, barbecue and local beverages, are all set to keep you up until late into the night.

If you are a lover of New Age Jazz, rhythm and blues, then the St. Lucian Jazz Festival is the place for you which is being held annually.  More information on this event can be source form your Travel agent.  If you intend to attend that festival, I suggest that you make early hotel reservation so that you would not be disappointed as hotel occupancy is always full around that time of year and because hotel owners will try to benefit from the mass of visitors that attend.

We would recommend that on Friday and Saturday nights you pay a visit to the British style pub called Captain’s Cellar located on the gorgeous Pigeon Island which greets you in an ambience of live music and karaoke.

On the west coast village of Anse-La-Raye is a similar but not entirely the same nightlife activities as that of Fridays night’s in Gros Islet.  There you would be entertained with Jamaican Reggae music and lots of rum to keep you up and about all night.  You will also find Sea Moss Shake which is made out of seaweed, milk and sugar.  It is said that if you have a glass of this drink, it will keep you dancing all night long.

Water Sports in St. Lucia

The unspoiled island of St. Lucia with it marvellous sandy beaches and abundant of landscape is quickly becoming the envy of the Caribbean in terms of tourist attractions.

In the southern part of St. Lucia is a forest reserve where the best hiking trails and historic sites are located, however the island is famous for its beautiful beaches which visitors use to enjoy water sports. Windsurfing is one of the most exciting water sports followed by Kite surfing and there is an abundance of professional Windsurfing and Kite surfing centres on the island.

Scuba diving and snorkelling will surely amaze you if you’re looking for an incredible experience. The best scuba diving sites can be found on St. Lucia’s West coast namely, Marigot Bay, Anse Chastanet and in Castries and Rodney Bay in the North. Actually scuba diving is almost impractical on the east coast as the sea is very rough there and the strong currents coming from the Atlantic Ocean are very dangerous.  If you decide to go scuba diving or snorkelling, you should be aware that you are prohibited from destroying or interfering with the corals or to take shell fish from the waters. The most vital information is that scuba diving is not expensive in St. Lucia and there exist numerous trained professionals standing by to assist.

Fans of water sports will be surprise to know about the range of activities that are available in St. Lucia.  There is no need to carry with you water sports equipment as they are available on rental and that will save you some cash and our needs will be truly satisfy by all the beautiful beaches that are found on island.
